Its name is HELSE; it is a sole that acts as a protective barrier against viruses and bacteria thanks to its biocidal power. A sole that provides health, safety, confidence and peace of mind. It is a compound incorporated in the formulation of the rubber of the sole of the footwear that is capable of eliminating bacteria and viruses. The sole of the footwear is self-decontaminating; it guarantees that the sole is decontaminated 4 hours after being used.

It prevents contagion by contact. Viruses and bacteria have the ability to survive outside of living beings and can maintain their infectious power for hours or days, depending on the surface where they have been deposited. One of the surfaces where they can most easily be deposited is the ground on which we walk.

The duration of this antiviral treatment is for the entire useful life of the footwear, since it is included in the rubber formulation. It is capable of killing the virus in 4 hours with a 99% reduction (in the tests, it has been measured how many viruses have survived in that time after having infected the surface).

Its effectiveness and durability are demonstrated with tests based on ISO 21702 standards (virucidal activity) and ISO 22196:2011 (microbial activity) which are a protocol to quantify antiviral and antimicrobial properties on non-porous surfaces. The test is carried out on the human coronavirus HcoV-NL63 belonging to the same family as SARS-CoV-2 (Covid19). The test shows that the compound is not toxic to human cells.
